In early October, I went back to the US mainland for the first time in two years. I was invited to be my highschool friend's groomsman for his wedding! So I took a 13 hour flight to Denver. Fun fact, Denver city is the sister city of Yamagata City. And I could see why. Denver is surrounding by a lot of nature and mountains, much like Yamagata.
Unexpectedly, I was able to meet with my parents, who were on a road trip across America. They took me around Denver, where I got to eat real American food for first time since graduating college, like many donuts, huge burritos, and nostalgic burgers. I was really happy (and got really fat).
I also unexpectedly met with some of my college friends! They took me to see the beautiful nature of the Colorado Rockies. Then I met with my friend who was getting married. I was so excited to see my friend along with many of my highschool friends from Maui at his wedding.
For his wedding gift, I gave him a real katana that I brought from Japan. He and his wife thought it was so cool that at the wedding ceremony, they used it to cut the wedding cake!
I had a great time being back in America, spending time with my family, and hanging out with my friends. I took many pictures on my trip, and I shared them with the Kanekou students. They seemed very excited to see what I did and how beautiful Colorado is and grew more interested in learning about America.
